ABOUT ALAN D. HUTCHISON
Alan
Hutchison is one of the few immigration lawyers in the Reno
area to restrict his law practice exclusively to immigration and nationalization
law. Mr. Hutchison’s immigration practice is further limited
to “family immigration”. This includes obtaining legal
permanent residence for qualified individuals through family relationships
(green cards); petitions for immigration visas for family members
and fiancé visas. In addition, Mr. Hutchison specializes in
asylum applications and deportation defense in Immigration Court,
before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr.
Hutchison is a graduate of the George Washington University School
of Law in Washington, D.C. He graduated at the top of his class and
was Editor-in-Chief of the George Washington Law Review.
He practiced
for many years in Washington, D.C. in the field of international trade
law. At that time he also handled many immigration problems for his
clients.
In 1964 Mr. Hutchison
had the honor to be selected by President Lyndon B. Johnson to represent
the American people in a special ceremony in Manila, The Philippines,
where he met the President of the Philippines. He also worked closely
with the U.S. Philippine Chamber of Commerce in New York on trade
matters.
Mr. Hutchison
later joined Inter American Finance Corporation as General Counsel
and as Managing Director. He oversaw investment projects in Costa
Rica, Bolivia and Panama. His Spanish is fluent. After retiring from
Inter American Finance Corp., Mr. Hutchison entered law practice in
Reno and San Francisco as an immigration lawyer.
In
1986 Mr. Hutchison was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to be
a member of the National Advisory Committee on Oceans and Atmosphere
and served on this advisory committee for two years.
Mr. Hutchison
is a member of the Bars of the Supreme Court of the United States,
the U.S. Circuit Court for the Ninth Circuit, and the District of
Columbia. He is authorized to practice before the Executive Office
for Immigration Review (Department of Justice-Immigration Courts)
and the Department of Homeland Security (U.S. Naturalization &
